Tyler Butterfield is a rare sporting talent, having raced at the height of competition in two separate disciplines. A two-time Olympian in triathlon (Athens 2004 and London 2012) and a 2002 Commonwealth Games contender in cycling, Tyler has now turned his focus toward competing in the 2013 Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. He is young. He is talkative and he is ready to go long and race as a professional athlete. The time is now. Tyler finished 4th at Ironman Arizona after a long vacation post London and surprised himself with how much he loved racing a full work day. Follow that up with a 3rd place finish with a deep field in Abu Dhabi to start the 2013 season as the athlete to watch – cementing his love and commitment for the sport. Tyler’s athletic prowess is a brilliant blend of hard work and genetics – his father was an Olympic rower and Ironman pioneer and his mother claimed a 4th place finish at the 1985 Boston Marathon. Tyler proudly enjoys dual citizenship (Bermuda & USA) and travels the world training and racing with his long-time love Nikki and their daughter Savana.
